This poetry is a perfect example of why poetry is such an irrelevant medium. Today every other poet is writing in romantic or reverent terms about nature, the wilderness, the woods, blah, blah, blah. In other words, phenomenon that has nothing to do with how we live. And the more likely you are to appreciate poetry, the less likely you are to live in a rural setting.

Where's the poetry about surfing the web, missing a bus, bouncing a check? In other words, why does the world of poetry exalt subject matter that has nothing to do with how we live?

And if John Casteen really abhors violence but likes caring for and securing his own food, he can grow a garden in his backyard in Charlottesville.
